Pictures below from man on the spot Ian Lillford.
Operation Stack has come into play between junctions 8 and 12 on the M20. There is a huge backlog of trucks unable to get across the channel due primarily to a Seafrance strike, which is scheduled to continue at least until monday, but also due to severe weather which has affected both P&O and Norfolkline, both of these as I understand it are operating a limited service. The pictures were sent in by our oul mucker Ian who has the vital job of helping to make the Stack system work well....such as it is. Many thanks Ian. Interesting to see what it's like from the sharp end. Extraordinary eerie place an empty motorway( see pic below).
The backlog is now cleared.
