Last Day of Summer!

This is officially the last day of summer. Always sad in a way. But this year we ask ourselves.. summer? What summer? Essentially we didn't have one. It has been the coolest most miserable summer in 18 years. Yes since 1993 in fact.

So instead of sipping manfully on our Pimms No 1 in the great outdoors, we have been tucking into bowls of limb warming tomato soup while wearily wearing our woolly vests.

Seaside resorts around the UK were bracing, very very bracing. The next time a scientist mentions global warming on TV you have our permission to throw your shoe with some vigour at the screen! Although...make sure its a soft shoe! Seems to be little chance of an Indian summer either. Sigh... Picture above was taken in Dieppe. But dont be fooled. It wasn't all summery and warm as you might suppose, but rather.. 'twas the end of a very turbulent day when the sun briefly burst through the gloom.

The above cutting from the Border Force News was sent to me by one of our top forumites Reg Hansell. The story features his son Jason and the rest of the crew of the Spirit of Juno who took part in the hugely tough and even notorious Fastnet Race. It is self explanatory as you can see, but isnt it a great story. It shows just what can be achieved by all pulling together no matter what the difficulty.

There is also a thread called FYI in our Forum section with more details.
