Tall Ship:
This three masted beauty rested in Dover Harbour on wednesday..presumably having a deep sea breather from the rough ragged weather in the channel. We were unable to make out her name either in the early gloom or in the brighter conditions later, despite the use of strong binoculars, so if anyone knows please let us know. There is nothing quite like a three master for sheer beauty, especially with the silver seas as a backdrop.."all I ask is a tall ship..and a star to guide it by...."
We had information through from our resident mariner Ed Connell, the ship is the Thor Heyerdahl from Germany.
Many thanks Ed. See also the thread 'Full Rigged Barque' in our Forum for more information.

Mayor of Deal
Fundraiser.
Some of the Doverforum teamsters went over to Deal on sunday night to the annual fundraising dinner of the current Mayor of Deal.. Cllr Jim Cronk. The dinner was held at the famous and well established local restaurant Dunkerleys of Deal. The surroundings in Dunkerleys are comfortable and relaxed and the chef there excelled himself with an array of delicious highly savoury culinary concoctions, which tempted those attending to later in the evening put their hands in their pockets for charitable good causes...causes close to the Mayor's heart.
This is Jim Cronk's third sojourn as Mayor and he was delighted not only to serve again, but to be able to raise funds again for worthy causes.. Jim said...
“I am thrilled to be able to raise funds for my favourite charites which are the Deal Arthritis Association, and the Deal Kingsdown and Walmer Regatta Society.” A pleasant time was had by all and a big well done to those who contributed.
