Treat your mum this Mothers Day With A Relaxing Break Across The Channel...some nice ideas from DFDS.

It’s that time of year when you tell your mum how great she is, and spoil her rotten! Dover – France ferry operator, DFDS Seaways (formerly Norfolkline) has introduced a special offer, which means you can travel from as little as £19* for a day return, for a car and up to nine passengers.

There’s a host of places to take your mum to make this Mother’s Day really memorable, with destinations such as Dunkirk, Bruges, or even Paris, Spa and the Champagne region all within easy driving distance from the Ports of Dunkirk and Calais.

Chris Newey, passenger director for the English Channel at DFDS Seaways, said: “Europe is home to some great destinations to treat your mum. You could take her for lunch on the beach at Dunkirk, for a spa in Spa, or even a glass of bubbles in Epernay where the Benedictine monk, Dom Perignon invented champagne. With crossings sailing from Dover to Dunkirk up to 12 times a day, and five times a day to Calais, families can really make the most of the Mother’s Day weekend.”

Spa in Spa

Located in the southeast Belgian province of Liège, in the heart of the beautiful lush forests of the Belgian Ardennes, visit Spa for the recently built Thermes de Spa, an ultramodern thermal centre located on the top of a hill directly overlooking the picturesque town. There’s also shopping in the many boutiques or at the Sunday flea market, golf on the excellent course of the Royal Golf des Fagnes, or long walks and excursions in the forests and marshes of the Ardennes where many of the natural springs can be visited.

France’s Champagne Region

Just two and a half hours drive from the Ports of Dunkirk and Calais is Reims, the centre of the world famous Champagne Region. Celebrate Mother’s Day by sampling some of the world’s best bubbles whilst on guided tours which include the Taittinger champagne cellars and the Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin house.

Dunkirk

The historic harbour town of Dunkirk has some of the best Flemish food on offer. Within the town centre is a number of Michelin starred restaurants including the Hostellerie Le Fox, which has a number of traditional dishes on its menu, served with a modern twist.

Dover Sea Sports to bring water sports activities back to Dover for 2012.

Dover Sea Sports are excited to announce that a full water sports programme has been developed for 2012, to be delivered at the Dover Sea Sports Centre. Dover Sea Sports, which is owned and operated by Dover Marine Services Ltd has been working with Vista Leisure over the past few months to build a sustainable water sports programme for the community launching on the 1st April 2012. The programme will offer a range of water sports including beach rental.

Dover Sea Sports aim to offer a safe, enjoyable and value for money water sports experience for all. We want to see the waterfront in Dover as a focal point within the South East and a prime location to access the water, whether you want a training course or just have fun on the water with friends and family.

Dover Sea Sports will offer a wide range of activities including sailing, windsurfing, power boating and kayaking. Our aim is not just to focus on water sports activities as we will also have a wide range of shore based training courses on offer. All of our products are available to schools, youth organisations, adult organisations, companies and individuals.

Head of Centre, Stuart Bishop, said, “Having been involved with water sports for many years I am very keen to see the water sports programme develop, and Dover to become a hub for community activity. We have a fantastic facility on our door step in a great sheltered location. We want to see the facilities and waterfront used on regular basis and this is one of our main goals, whether you are looking for a sailing course or want to go for a paddle in a kayak we can cater for your needs. We have set an exciting programme for 2012 but this will be evolving to ensure that we have new activities and services on offer. We endeavour to see the sea front become a thriving water sports destination.”

Dover Sea Sports are very keen to work with other users of the Dover Sea Sports Centre and the wider community. We are committed to working in partnership with all stakeholders to develop the facilities and programmes for the community.

The Dover Marine Services team were responsible for bringing to Dover in 2011 the successful Dover Sea Safari, which offers coastal tours, seal safaris and trips to the Goodwin Sands. Our vision is to maximise to its full potential all that is available at Dover, this includes a safe sheltered harbour to operate activities in and the great modern facilities of the Dover Sea Sports Centre.
Many thanks to Dover Seasports Centre for the info above.

Meet The Blogger....

We cannot let the occasion go by without drawing attention to our ongoing feature called Barry's Blog. This week the Blog passed through the 100,000 viewing figures barrier, it happened last sunday in fact. The Blog is of course the brainchild of our very own long term forumite Barry Williams and is highly political. Highly political with a capital C for Conservative. It is a mixture of the factual, the provocative, and the controversial...but Barry will debate any topic featured with those who post immediately below his Blog. See links to the Blog below and left.

Barry's Blog changes several times a week and more during highly active times politically, and is always topical..

Barry Williams speaking yesterday said...

"I am amazed and delighted at how it has taken off given it is only updated 2/3 times a week. During the election period I did do daily updates which help push up hits, but incredibly, in the second year the hits carried on accelerating and this seems to be continuing seeing how many hits there have been since Sunday, when the 100,000 figure was passed.
Thank you all for looking in…. I will do my best to keep going and will always be prepared to say what the politicians grubbing for votes will not say!!!’’

So dont miss this exciting ongoing feature..and remember, If you want to comment on any item you will need to join up...drop me Paul an email to join..dover7@msn.com.
