PHASE II.... more pictures from the Merchant Navy Day Memorial Service...
As we seem to have quite a batch of pictures this time of the Service, we thought we would do a follow up page and show some more. The original page was rather full and would not easily accommodate further additions. That page can still be seen in all its glory..see the link immediately below these new pictures. In the picture above we have...DDC meeting Doverforum, in the shape of the Chairman of Dover District Council Sue Nicholas with the ever present Doverforum representative Colette Boland. Picture taken in relaxed mode just after the service.
Eileen Rowbotham Deputy Mayor of Deal in close encounters with the Mayor of Dover Cllr Anne Smith. Picture taken while all were chatting immediately after the ceremony and wreath laying. All the dignitaries laid wreaths which are of course still there. We must say a great collection of hats on show..especially from Anne and Sue..quite striking!
As we said previously quite a good turnout, would always be better to see even more people in order to make this an even more important annual event. As it is it is a beautiful service and worth noting. Pictures above and below here show the gathered veterans and their families and others taking part. Pictures dont show the full gathering.
