This stunning picture was taken by
Michael Gough. Michael works for Sky Charter Helicopters at Manston Airport and once the snow settled and the blizzards stopped, they were able to get airborne and do an airtour of the district. Michael just had the simple camera on his mobile phone with him, but nevertheless managed to get this cracking shot above....which is truly splendiferous! It shows Dover Castle and the immediate area looking fabulously picturesque in the gorgeous white snow.
I will add some pictures to this page in due course, even some from groundbased landlubbers, so that we can keep a record of this years snowfall in our All Recent Features section. If anyone out there has a blinder send it in to me at dover7@msn.com. PaulB
Have now added this lovely picture by forumite
Andrew Stucken. Its a picture of one of my own personal favourite areas over there at Martin. That is a great old English country pub you see on the right hand side called The Olde Lantern Inn. I bet the old smugglers and highwaymen used to congregate there in old times past. Beautiful on a summers day...for some good food and good drink, and all to the sound of bees buzzing and birds humming. Not quite like that in this latest picture. Bet they were snowed in over there. Oh shiver me timbers!!
The picture on the left is by
Paul 'Scotchie' Wells and is a simple but very effective picture of a humble boat lanquishing on Deal Beach, once again covered in snow and on a cold cold day. But the colours warm the shot up very effectively. Very pleasing on the eye. Look how calm everything is.
Just below we have another stunning shot from the helicopter and mobile phone camera of
Michael Gough. This time taking a somewhat different viewpoint but just as interesting, showing the town stretched out below the battlements of the famous Dover Castle and all covered in new white virginal snow, untouched by toboggan or human hand.
Pictures are reproduced large but might be able to comfortably get another shot or two in. PB.
More soft white virginal snow, without any trace of a gritter. I have endless variations, taken at different times with different light, of the glorious seafront, picking one out is just a lottery, but am intrigued, who is that...lady in red?? PB.
