Fishing Season: Many thanks to Steve Lamb for the following...
The new fishing season has begun with Dover Sea Anglers Association (DSAA) celebrating the fact that Julia Nichols has taken over the Fisherman Friend Kiosk to provide sustenance to the hard worked fishermen on the pier.

Julia is a top chef and also an author (try typing in her name or 'day trip to hell' into your search engine). She aims to provide the all time favorites as well as additions such as Jacket Potatoes with home made Madras Curry or Chilli. Also on the new menu are 28 day matured Roast Beef in gravy Baquettes, trust me the bread is fresh! All meat, chicken & burgers are Halal.

The Mackerel are reported to be arriving this weekend, having been caught off Brighton two weeks ago and Hastings last weekend. DSAA are looking forward to running up and down the one mile stretch of pier to make sure everyone has a prime spot to reel 'em in.

Julia will be at the half way mark to welcome you.

Latest: As of Sat 01 May 1230hrs - Mackerel were caught off the Admiralty Pier in Dover. The anglers were 1/2 a mile down the pier near the Fisherman Friend Kiosk. They don't swim alone and it heralds the start of the season..

And now for a bit of Bank Holiday light relief....

This Guy ate my Lunch!!

I knew I was moving closer to God when I moved onto the tenth floor, but I forgot I was moving closer to the scavenging marauder shown here. Every time I open the window he shows up flapping his wings, flexing his muscles, and generally showing off. He is clearly looking for bags of attention...and bags of food. I thought first of all he was attracted by my fatal charm, and my good looks, but no...ours is a commercial arrangement, called gimme gimme gimme! Of course we all know enough not to feed the gulls as they will forever hover over your balcony, and oh dear..shower all the cars below with their white ..ermmm... paste, but here's the thing, Ive never fed this guy anything. Maybe we just have a love affair going...although that all changed the other day when he ran off with my carefully prepared sandwich. Took my eye of my lunchtime snack for a minute and that was it...whooosh!

In the shot below left he is clearly laughing and thinks its all great fun. While in the shot on the right he is going all coy..thinking I'll be forgiving him sometime soon. No chance!
