And now for something a bit lighter....

Jeanette at 40: Jeanette Harper, head honcho of the London Road Community Forum, Dover Express Columnist par excellence, and all round good egg, celebrated her 40th Birthday at the Louis Armstrong pub on saturday night. The place was throbbing, yes indeed, heaving with foot tapping jazz loving well wishers, and the joint just rocked. I didnt know pubs could get this crowded in Dover these days, well outside of Wetherspoons anyway! but it was a great party atmosphere and Jeanette was the belle of the proverbial ball. Even yours truly on a first ever visit to the Louis, managed to conjure up a bit of rhytmn in the shape of a tapping foot. Strewth! Great to see that a live band can have such a super nourishing effect on a person's soul, well it was either that or the drink!

But yes indeed a great party atmosphere and lots of nice food too. Even in these times of stark recession, its good to see that us Dovorians can still get out there and bop with the best of them. So a big congrats to top forumite Jeanette.

Pictures: left hand side shot shows a few of the regular party-goer forumites, L to R. Jean Walkden, wife of Tory Councillor Roger Walkden, who's fame proceeds him everywhere he goes these days, that's Roger next along, then Cllr Georgette Rapley, then Cllr Chris Precious, and last but not least Colette Boland, Doverforum PR, all having a fun filled time.

Right handside shot shows from L to R, prolific forumite Brian Dixon, then the girl of the moment herself the lovely Jeanette Harper, and then man about town Chris Precious on the right hand side. A good time was had by all. There doesnt seem to be enough parties these days..lets have some more!
