09:1028763I have looking at it again on the T,V, and you are right this will live with us all our lifes, and you must say Why Why did it happen, just think geting up in the morning kissing the family and saying like we all do,"See you all tonight" going of to work like any other day geting to your place of work and then------- it is so sad and pointless.

09:1328764oh Dear! was it today. Those images from that day will be forever with us. Truly amazing and unforgettable images but of course bringing terrrible tragedy. I remember the peice of film where some camera crew was innocently interviewing a guy on the streets of New York when a plane just behind the interviewee hurtled into the tower...

09:2428766I went to a firefighters funeral whist I was there shortly after the tragedy. It was one of the most heart wrenching things I have ever experienced. There was a huge picture which a child had drawn of the two towers with arms reaching out to one another placed at the entrance to St Patrick's Cathedral. Visiting Ground Zero was just heartbreaking.
I enjoyed many lovely visits to the top of the towers on my trips to New York.

11:5128779And a timely reminder of bigotry and prejudice on all sides. I was at work when the terrible events were broadcast live on TV, and before anyone knew anything I was told it was "your lot, the bloody IRA" again, and there was a very uncomfortable period of time, before and after people realised that it was the responsibility of another easily identified group towards which they could hurl their abuse. Not all Irish are IRA, not all Muslims are terrorists.
Tragic events, my prayers are with all the people touched by 9/11. I guess that means all of us.

I understand where your comin from, whilst the time was sad and our thoughts go out to all the families, we have to be careful not to generalise.
My mum's Irish and as far as i know has no links to the IRA she hates them and violence in general.
It is a minority
wrong but a minority

23:1329027Very hard to believe that so long has passed since that day.
I was asleep (after working my usual night shift) and was woken by a frenzied voice on the phone telling me to put the b****y telly on and stay at home.......I was still watching dumbstruck as the second plane impacted when I received a more officail call from work warning me in no uncertain terms to come in and report to my usual place of work, but not to park in the basement car park - whatever difference that would have made!!
Never had such an emotionally charged night (as I was fire and bomb/health and safety/first-aider for my shift at that time).
RIP all who lost their lives at that time (including all the emergency services who attended).
Oh Boy!, That'll be the day.........
