Gwyn Prosser has always been adamantly opposed to privatisation of the port and has demonstrated that he is a man of principle.
Charlie Elphicke also states that he is opposed to privatisation. However, he is an adviser to the prospective future Conservative government and has advocated privatisation of the Royal Mail, describing the funds from this sell off as a "get out of jail" card. How is it possible for him to view flogging off one last remaining portion of our family silver as desirable and yet not another?
Could it be that he would be enthusiastically supportive of auctioning off the Port of Dover were it not for the fact that he is standing as the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Dover at the next election and is keenly aware that the electorate has already shown that it is overwhelmingly opposed to the sale of the port and that he would accordingly not stand the remotest chance of being elected were he to be seen to support privatisation?
