21:1028465Is it me or are the new road improvements at Oxney Bottom going to make the road more unsafe ? They have put a line of crash barriers up so rather than one car go out of control and off the road, it will just bounce into the path of oncoming cars...
Why not the solid double white lines the whole length ? There is only one bit between Ringwould and Dover that it is very very only just possible to pass a slow vehicle, but anywhere else is dicing with death.....
Been nice knowing you :)

07:3928473I dont know the section you are talking about Paul but as we all know thats not a safe road. But when they make these chages one assumes they research into the pros and cons of the situation and no doubt would be aware of the possibility of vehicles bouncing back into oncoming traffic...so what the justification for such a barrier is is hard to fathom. But our fate is in these guys hands at The Highways Agency, I guess its them anyway. Maybe they see some good in the idea..somewhere.

08:4028478No Paul aka Scotchie, your not alone in that comment, everyone has made same comment that I have spoke to, its just another accident waiting to happen on an already dangerous road, lets hope we are all wrong.

08:5228479The same applies to the Alkham Valley. The last thing that is needed is a crash barrier. What is needed is careful drivers, not boy racers putting themselves and others at risk.

08:5328480Sorry but I think the crash barriers at that point are good it will stop you going over the top ,also I think it will help to stop speeding just there to, we need the same along the Alkham road aswell 3have now died along there by just coming off the road and hiting trees.

If only it were boy racers along there and Alkham Valley - mostly mid-life crisis men in their Beemers

17:4928502I have to agree with Scotchie but would also like to add that roads, in and of themselves, are NOT dangerous. How can they be? Do trees leap out at drivers? Do barriers fling themselves across the road in front of the traffic? No, of course not. It must, therefore, be down to the vehicles or rather the nut holding the steering wheel/handlebars.

08:2228515Phil, of course roads are dangerous, there are many conditions of a road that makes accident hot spots. If the bend at oxney bottom is deemed dangerous enough to have crash barriers, why not remove the bend?
