Actually Vic. I think you're dead right - give yourself more time and drive safely - or safer. You see it every day on motorways; driving at least, or around, 100 mph. and many still using their mobile phones - I'm not saying this Lady was doing that at all, but I have seen this on the M20 and M25.

Oh Vic I know .... I think traffic in the last years becoming horrendous. Too many accidents. I do have to say something People might not like to hear. In all these years I live in Dover, i have only been stopped and checked by police once. This should tell you something!!!
In France, Netherlands and Germany you get checked at least 4 to 5 times a year.
Also large vehicles always get checked as 8 out of 10 arent road safe. I have the impression if you can get away with it, you will.
Again I could go on and on. Maybe this accident shakes and wakes up many Motorists. I still cant believe it happend. Hope her family and friends find some peace...

Much more relaxing driving on the motorways at 60 than 90. When it's busy it doesn't take much longer to get there, you're not constantly standing on the brakes when some prat pulls out in front of you, and my car does 55mpg instead of 42. In 45 years of driving I have been stopped by police 3 times in the UK. 1972- rear light out on the M6 near Preston. 1994- stopped in Canterbury carrying son's motorcycle in my trailer at 5 am. Let me proceed after ascertaining car and bike both registered to same family at same address. 1996- on A1 near Grantham- I had plugged my trailer electrics in upside down so when the car signalled left the trailer flashed right! But in spite of having driven many thousands of miles abroad, I've never been stopped for a random check ever, anywhere in the world. So I must be lucky.

With the times mentioned in the various news reports, car was at the Dartford crossing booths at 8.15am and hit the Aycliffe roundabout at 9.13am,it would appear to have been within the speed limits being around 60 mile or so journey.I have driven down the a20 to the roundabout this afternoon and you can see the tyre marks and amazingly it missed the road signs on the roundabout.Still cannot see how it could have happened if the car was within the speed limits.

The inquest report was published in this weeks Dover express(front page). Its a mystery as to why the lady just suddenly left her home and travelled to Dover especially as she just popping out to her car for a moment.Seems everything was ok but was she depressed, who knows? Its very strange and very sad.
