it would appear that the "old endeavour" has been boarded up due to mine host being accused of knocking out the
extra strength talcum powder with the guiness.
i used to like partaking of a tincture in the garden in the days when the river used to run past.
my memory tells me that a certain property developer done a moses, and parted the dour.

One more opens as another one closes, I notice that the 'Falstaff' has re-opened it's doors.

I think the Falstaff has been open a couple of weeks now and I wish them every success.
The Old Endeavour is likely to re-open in the future but if the allegations prove to be true it certainly deserved to shut. Does anybody know whether it has been the subject of a licensing review because it certainly should be.
Incidentally, it is illegal to serve alcohol to a person who has had too much to drink already so perhaps somebody could enlighten me as to where all the late night drunks come from especially when the majority of late night pubs have door staff.

I was waiting for my wife to come out of a dentists a while ago and was shocked to watch the goings on through the window of a town centre pub.
A customer appeared to be asleep at the end of the bar. He woke up when his elbow slipped. Fumbling for money he dropped his change on the floor. Retrieving it he pushed some coins in the direction of the barman. who supplied a double whisky. After about 10 minutes there was a similar repeat performance. This man was clearly drunk but the pub kept taking his money.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
So that's where my old man was........joking apart, what are the consequences for pubs that encourage this poor behaviour? Where is the policing?

Pubs are subject to stringent licensing laws. Serving people that are already drunk or in the opinion of the licensee have had too much already can be subject to a license review. This can lead to the pub having to close earlier or suspension of the premises licenses for a specified period. Such notice has to be displayed in the pub, where it can be read by the public and the police.
It surely with all the CCTV in the town not too difficult to establish which premises are responsible, or even ask the drunk where he has come from.
The vandalism late at night must cost the public a fortune, the public know themselves that there is little point in reporting the crime because at the end of the day nothing is going to be done.
It is sad to say that should the law be enforced many of our town centre pubs would at the very least be closing early.
