According to a recent BBC 4 bulletin on Election Day, the British and the western Europeans descend from the Neandertals! So I pulled out some historic documentation from the drawers and ... lo!, Neandertal is in Germany, the Saxons settled in England and over a large part of Germany, the Francs settled in France, the Goths in Spain and the Longobards in Italy!
This seemed to have been the departing statement of Labour before leaving office (knowing they were about to lose, and BBC 4 being a State Broadcasting Corporation), that after all, we British and the western Europeans descend from the Neandertals, and it seemed to be a justification, or at least an explanation, as to why they treated us so badly!
I suppose they couldn't find any worthier explanation, could they!

Ahem, Neandertals were NOT apes. They were an early form of homo sapiens (complete human).

Neandertals still exist, mostly at Old Trafford, but a few have migrated across the Penines as far as Elland Road.

Bern would have liked them. They had strong bones, very muscular, with large hands. Ideal rugby players I`d have thought? Only 5 feet tall though.

wayne rooney is a good example of that.
Neanderthals were only called this because the first evidence was discovered in the Neanderthal (valley) in Germany. It does not mean that they only colonised there! Get a grip, Alexander.

Diana, I was only referring to the official Labour version emitted on BBC worldnews, not supplying my personal beliefs.
Sid, "apes", used in my text, was meant for the same Labour that defines us as "Neandertals"! Tit fot tat!
Ahh, I see now Alexander. Well done, I think. Trouble is, your usual outbursts of literary anti-most things diarrhoea tends to cause me to miss the rare subtleties sometimes hidden away. Keep practising, you'll get there one day.

May-be with a new gov. we'll be considered humans, and not Neandertals, but when I just looked on Barry's blog and read the last line to me, I suddenly got a different opinion! 1984!
