Boris does breath a bit of fun in politics, something that is sadly missing.
But I'm not sure he's ready for the bigger job, although if he took that route for the mouse job i have not doubt he would get it as he's far mor popular

That cartoon is funny and so so true...
anyone who saw bouyant Boris bounce into Brum will be bowled over at his brash populist ebullience. The televison crews tripped over each other and stood on each others toes in the huge media scrum..the photographers shuffled aggressively this way and that in the melee..all trying to get the shot that mattered, the one to make the frontpage of the Daily Mail. In the midst of it all a hounded Boris suddenly made a dash for the side exit in true pop star of old mode. Elvis had side-exited the building..for the moment!
But Boris wasnt gone long..his fans awaited and of course he loves the fans and the limelight. He gave television interviews to every programme all day long..here he is on one..his tousled humour both funny and irritating at the same time as he avoids all questions with a gleeful exuberance. The interviewers cant pin him down...
Has this ever happened before? Tony Blair was popular in the 'things can only get better' era..but it was in a different way. Boris trancends all trends, trancends all barriers..people from all parties like him. He fills some with horror but in an age where everybody seems to hate politicians he somehow rises above it.
I used to laugh once at the mention of Boris becoming PM but it isnt a joke anymore. He will have to wait until David Cameron falls from grace but once that happens..he will be in there..the bandwagon has powered forward with an unstoppable momentum. When asked about his rise to the very top Boris laughs with gay abandon and says..." I am very supportive of this government and the job they are doing"..but with a glint in his eye.
People have noticed his weight gain..hmmm, a suspension in the calorfic intake is needed, less beef Boris less beef, as one never remembers a fat man in Downing st..so the pundits point out.

Had a chuckle at Howard and Peter, they are both spot on. The vast majority of politicians are ego driven attention seekers, that applies at every level in my experience, the bottom line is there are far too many of them.
Parish, town, district, county and then of course parliament, people get elected with good intentions then spend their time squabbling and point scoring, its nauseating. I can name several I've met who work hard with integrity and little reward, the majority of those are female and represent labour, I wont mention names but a quite large bloke from the other side falls into the same category. But there are tens of thousands who want to tell us how to run our lives, the reality is all they do is waste our money through incompetence, if they want to do some good go and push old folk round the park.
Compare them with people like Neil Wiggins who is campaigning, against the odds, in a really good cause, in what may prove to be a futile exercise, I'll support the likes of Neil more than any party led mouthpiece. Incidentally, I think Charlie works very hard for the town.
I know various politicians look in so I've probably ruffled a feather or two, oh well.
Rant over, have a nice day.

Cameron`s grossly disproportionate hilarity at Boris`s jokes must have been torment for him, being cast as the terminal
patient overdosing on laughing gas while the undertaker popped along to mearure him up for the coffin.
The omnibuffoonery of Boris has Tebbit,Clarke muttering he is unsuited for PM and some tories emit mirthless cackles
of derision at the prospect...but Boris is coming to get Flashman ready or not .......it is no longer if but when....

Boris has the 'common touch' (in spite of his background) which the rest of the senior Conservatives seem to lack.

Yes his background is interesting Peter, he went to the same school as Milliband.
Dont expect the red rosette wearers to mention that though

Often some of these geezers need to roll up there sleeves and rough it with the problems of the country,
for many they never see the worse side oflife, never know what to struggle is all about.
There is a real world out there

Interesting Keith, being "out of touch" suggests they were once "in touch". The three party leaders come from very similar backgrounds and have never had a job, they have zero connection with the electorate.
Are you getting the picture of what I think of these people?

Thats right a comp Howard, his father was interested in the whole social experiment but the family was upper middle class alright. Its no coincidence what his offspring have done since school, career politicians.

and there are some hard working labour geezers
its those that are in touch /connection with the electorate that will get true support

What Boris said then in February 2006:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/personal-view/3622794/Weve-lost-our-fear-of-hellfire-but-put-climate-change-in-its-place.html
and what he said once elected Mayor:

Anyone who puts their trust in any politician of any party needs help, it is just that some are not as bad as the others.

i found this article interesting as the suggestion is that die hard blues are not in favour but neutrals and wavering voters would queue up to crown king boris.
