Break a leg Saskia and Ben !!
- 20 March 2009 06:1817752I read in the Dover Express that Saskia Wadsworth-Smith and Ben Steele ,two Dover teenagers, are to perform at the Marlowe Theatre's 'Night of a Thousand Stars'. It is being staged to mark the temporary closure of the Theatre. A secret line up of stars have agreed to appear along with Ben and Saskia who will perform a 10 minute slot as part of the Marlowe Youth Theatre.The show is this weekend and is already sold out.Well done.Its nice to read and hear of some of Dovers Youth making the papers and doing well.Keep up the good work.Marek

Good luck to them as it appears its going to be a grand occasion.
Yes The Marlowe Theatre is closing down for 2 years while waiting for funding to come through, this funding will enable them to build a new state of the art theatre that East Kent can be proud of....there is still an area of doubt about the funding though as I understand it. Sad to see it close for so long though and with the loss of 70 jobs.email: dover7@msn.com - 20 March 2009 10:2417761I heard on the TV this morning that the Marlowe have now got their funding and all is going ahead as planned. The drawings for the new state-of-the-art theatre look fabulous, it would have been a great loss to the community as a whole if the Marlowe Theatre had not got the required funding, so great news there for one and all.
Ben and Saskia are indeed taking part in the the star-studded 'Night of a Thousand Stars' at the Marlowe on Sunday evening, which will be the last show at the Marlowe in its present form. The tickets sold out on the day as there are so many surprise appearances by a variety of famous names.
