No it isn't.
Say goodbye to pupils.
Wish them the summer holiday they deserve (hopefully some will be drowned if there is any justice).
Avoid get together with colleagues (having said enigmatically, 'you can tell a man by the company he keeps).
Head down pub (after a v. nice cycle ride back from Sandwich)
Catch you later!

Sounds good to me, Bob. Enjoy your holiday; September will soon be here and the process begins again!
True friends stab you in the front.

you can be too soft hearted for your own good sometimes bob.
Isles of Scilly coming up again.

29 years so far( upon when we sprogged!)
Must be tough looking forward to 7 weeks PAID holiday. Now, if there were a cut I'd like to make it'd be the amount of time off the education sector marks out for itself.
We need longer term time and longer days at school, including Saturdays. Maybe then some of our kids will be able to read and write properly and maybe even do simple arithmetic. Pointing a mobile phone camera and calling it "Media Studies" is not good enough.
Have nice break Bob, you possibly deserve it.
Thanks Sid. Big word 'possibly'!
p.s. I teach 'hard' sums. Allegedly.

if you have been going the scilly isles for 29 years you must have met harold wilson in the early days.
+ Salman Rushdie (in hiding). Jude Law (who my daughter is still in touch with) + Will Self. I saw Harold in the Seven Stones in St Martins. Surrounded by Dip Protection. In retrospect I really wish I'd asked him why he resigned????
(Sorry to drop names - but I suspect that at this very moment Jude Law is talking about having met me?)
Everybody has
to be somewhere???

I agree with Mr Perkins on this one schools have far to much time off and with pay bring them in line with the rest of us,it would save £millions, and all the ex time they had off with the bad weather when the rest of us was doing our best to get to work because if we did not we did not get paid, it should be the same for them no work no pay thats the real world.

nah howard, he got married, had children, and stopped being able to afford it..!! He did go back last year and then i started spending his money again.. so alas.. poor impoverished Dad cant go again til maybe next year..
Jenn, your pa needs to get a teaching job. Loads of wonga and more time off than anyone can possibly know what to do with. A bit like the military so he should assimilate very well.
Someone once said, "the Scilly Isles are for silly people; the Isle of Wight is for white people, and the Isle of Man is for gays". Of course I wouldn't repeat that in public for fear of being accused of racism and homophobia.
