21:3167508Any courses or meetings I`ve been to on the railway or at the paper mill beforehand, have been interesting, but at the end of the day, it doesn`t matter how interesting a course or meeting is, it`s always great when the food and drink comes along. I`m sure it happens in the whole of industry, so why all this finger pointing because council member`s do it? I think as BarryW said earlier, just another seasonal story.

21:4967512Howard...
I also said "ex-councillors, wanna be councillors and councillors' friends." The latter being the most applicable as it appears most of you know each other. There are only two people on here that I can think of that I would recognise straight away in the street.
Jimmy...
I was not thinking of you at all

, like myself you have not been a member here for that long and I have no friends on here either. After my comments I think it is unlikely I ever will.

. I was thinking of those who make a lot of postings everyday.
I think I might now give this thread a miss as the atmosphere is getting a little

21:5467514try not to take things personally jan. we all agree to disagree just as on this thread.
speaking personally i am too thick to be a councillor, not a friend of a councillor either, though roger is a jovial acquaintance.
only speaking of district as i know one or two town councillors, all committed people.
your posts are always interesting, stick in there.

22:1467516I may disagree with your view on this, but I'm sure we agree on other things.
The councillors who appear on the Forum all have thick skins and give as good as they get, and often disagree with each other too. I appreciate them making an appearance on here because in many towns they are anonymous until election times.
I enjoy 'tail tweeking' myself so hang in there and enjoy the fun. Every so often the Boss throws a bash and we all get together if we can and laugh about stuff on here. There's more to DF than you may think.

23:4267547Jan I'm very like you in a lot of ways. I get my knickers in a twist and don't post for a while but then I miss the banter and come back! I've been with the forum since it started under Rick Jones and I still love it. Not many of us originals now but under PaulB it's still going strong. It's a great forum and really friendly too, even though as Sid said we do wind each other up at times lol. Please don't ever get like Vic though, I couldn't handle two of him on here!!! That man infuriates me, makes me see red and want to punch his lights out yet underneath all his stupidness is a very funny man I think. I hate him yet theres something about him - I don't know ......think I'm getting soft in my old age.
Anyway in my humble opinion this is the best forum on the net and with the lovely PaulB and little Howard at the helm we have a really good crew - we don't always sail on calm seas but hey - after every storm comes calm. Think I'll go to bed now before I start writing poetry
Nite all xxx

07:5567559I am sorry but I can see nothing wrong with cllrs having some sandwichs etc at meetings ,they give up the time as alreadyb said, sometimes going stright from work to the meetings,I am still on Nhs commitees and others and when we have meetings even public ones there is always some food and drink if you wish to have it.

15:4367617Jacqui thanks for the glowing testimonial...Ive left that £5 for you over at the pub as promised...but dont tell anyone we're in cahoots!
Seriously though glad it seems to be all going well on doverforum, most of all its very good if all the members are enjoying it. I will be laying on sandwiches/and or poshnibbles at the Christmas Party as per usual so the council is not the only one wot does it!
