All that scaffolding will be expensive, so I can't imagine it has been put up for no reason. The outside paintwork is not that bad so I don't think that it can be that. I would like a luxury flat in that building, but the one we are renovating in Victoria Park will be a great holiday home.

there certainly is a reason that it has been put up judith, most people see the reason as a ploy to look like d.h.b. are working on their properties when the department for transport come to a decision about the future of the port.
if they had a genuine interest they would have done something 5 years ago.

You may well be right Howard. What will happen to all the property owned by DHB if the port is privatised is a major concern whoever ends up in control. I try to be optimistic about redevelopment in Dover, but there have been too many false dawns in the last 10 (or 30) years.

Spotted the netting when I drove past this morning - I am sure if it was a 'ruse' you wouldn't go past putting scaffolding up and assigning a contractor????
Been nice knowing you :)

refurbishment covers a multitude of things i am surprised that d.h.b. have not announced whether they will be flats/offices/shops or a mixture of all.

You are not allowed to work of ladders any more, scaffolding must have nets around it now after you reach 8ft or is it ten? around that anyway,I was working off a ladder just before I packed up work on site, and I was stoped and was about to be send off site, when the site agent was told that where I was working there was no room for scaffolding to go up,so I was let off.I was about about 12ft up the ladder in a lift sharft when my poor old leg called it aday

This was going back some years now.

But as there are no planning applications, it is unlikely to be change of use, and no listed building consent so it can't be major redesign inside

i was under the impression that d.h.b. did not need to make planning applications on their properties.

Think that only applies to their docks land, else they could just buy up any old land and do anything they want ????
They have applied for permissions in the past on Cambridge Terrace....

I think anything above the first floor require scaffolding.
It can only be good that money is being spent bringing these lovely old buildings back in good order.

I'm sure DHB, who run the Port and own Cambridge Terrace, know what they are doing and have the scaffolding up for a reason. Hardly a ruse, Paul.

nice for us if the outside is done up but we hear that the insides are in urgent need of work being done.
