Had a wander up there this fine sunny morning, and I`ve always felt there`s much room for improvement up there. I had a walk round there last Summer, the first time for nearly 25 years!

Always hoping that non member`s of the forum, who maybe aware of us, both here and overseas may view the pics and just be tempted to give us a visit. We do have something if we look hard enough.

Hmm, not like Kearsney then, where are the folks enjoying the facility? It only needs a sniff of good weather for Kearsney to fill up.
Also, whoever made the decision to keep the Kearsney cafe open deserves a medal for using common sense. The cafe is open every day and the people turn up to use it. Business appears to be thriving there. If only the same logic could be applied to our tourist attractions and the cafe that never opens at the end of the pier.

Good point there Sid, and I now wonder why a cafe has never appeared up Connaught Park? It would certainly draw a few more locals I`m sure. As I mentioned above, lots of room for improvement up there.

on the few visits i have made there, i found the park to be underused, no idea why.
i doubt if a cafe would survive for long in there.

Maybe a portable/mobile cafe and some tables and chairs and of course publicity that it's there.

Are there any plans to hold any more Open Air film screenings this year. They were always popular with the families.

usually they have one in august, the tickets are like gold dust.
they are sent down to area offices, but unless you get there the minute they open, no chance.

Couldn`t resist this lovely blossom going up to the park earlier this afternoon. I think the post box blends in well with the colour.

Apparently the children's playground has been much improved. My son and daughter and their families went up there last week and it was packed with people enjoying the facilities and the weather. Unfortunately, the next time they went there had been a lot of graffiti-ing.

Is it still spring? Dunno. Anyway, I think this is called crocosmia lucifer, though I'm not a gardener. Colourful though.
