I have not heard any rumours but surprised it has lasted this long, whenever I have ventured in it looks like mainly staff from nearby offices getting their lunches or elderly residents from the Gateway flats who find that Morrison's and Asda are too far for them.

Not enough footfall but I have never liked the shop since it opened, much better when they were in the Charlton area.

Dover heartbroken where do they come up with this c**p, and the staff member quote 'they expected us to carry on working today which is a bit harsh" I despair!
Excellent idea Howard though Lidl do like new builds and edge of town locations.

Agree about the new builds thing Reg but the one in Folkestone is in a central location. Much as I sympathise with the staff some of whom have worked there since I moved in 2002 the Co-op has given them three months notice to find other employment - not many businesses do that.

I suppose Dover residents had "Tears of joy" when they first opened the store.I could imagine the press reporting it like that.

Lidl won't touch it as there is no free car parking.

Got a leaflet through the door from the Co-op extolling their latest promotional offers, the problem being that their "bargain" prices were mostly higher than rival's standard prices.

What price are you really paying for those tax avoiding corporations?

Extraordinary! I didn't know Co-ops still existed. My parents used to use them when we were poor! Are they still doing the 'divvy'?
Why aren't you all shopping on-line?
Here's a link to the future (Waitrose on line delivery)

Can't recommend it too highly. Excellent service and keeps people with no skills other than ability to drive a van in a job so I view shopping as a 'kindness' to them.

Wonder what will happen to the Peacock's section in there? I took a look inside earlier and it is very well stocked but just one staff member and me were the only people in there. Maybe they will take a smaller unit in town.
