Still available from the excellent Lakeland!

More kitsch-up than ketchup?

It all kicks off at 10 am with the Christmas Market, plenty of music and Santa coming along later.

We've just returned from a very pleasant family day out at the cruise terminal. The ice skating was more difficult than I anticipated after at least a 30 year break but I somehow managed to stay on my feet! The kids loved it though.
There is plenty to see and do although some of the concessions are a bit expensive. It looks good and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Get along if you can, it's well worth a visit. Well done DHB.

Some family members went down there today and loved it, my great-granddaughter wants to go again.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

First visit today. Plenty of visitors, young and not so young. All enjoying themselves. All ages having a go on the ice rink. Christmas Market stalls, Dover Transport Museum display.
Must have missed Santa but think I saw a Pixie. Great fun. Free parking.

This weekend at #WhiteCliffsChristmas we will be welcoming three superb young skaters - Alexandra, Elliot and Edward Appleby - onto the ice to entertain the crowds with their varied programme of festive, classic, jazz and comedy routines. Just back from the British Championships where Edward and Elliot came first and second respectively in the Advanced Novice Men event, the family will be performing at 11.45am and 1.45pm so don't miss the chance to see their dazzling perfomances!
To add to the festivities, the fantastic Swingtime Sweethearts will be performing many of our best-loved Christmas songs at 11am and 1pm on the stage to get you all further into the spirit of the season!

The trouble is what was once a bit of a novelty is now fairly normal with ice skating rinks being the equivalent of winter bouncy castles springing up all over the place.
DHB should have been looking for a USP like the Japs have - I'd certainly pay good money to see the likes of this:-

I think its wonderful and love Christmas maybe we will get as good as the towns at Christmas overseas, would be nice to see our town all lit up with tons of market holders selling and people dressed up and singing and christmas displays made by the towns people- lots of fun and drinking mince pies- chest nuts roasting with street walkers with barrows. Maybe a permanant ice rink in Dover would be good with some freedom and all pulling together like other towns do in America - there is a town in America called Dover and I spoke to one of their towns people- they are very get together at Xmas.
If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.

I was told earlier that there is no bus service to and from the cruise terminal this year, nothing on the DHB website about it.
