Thanks for that news Paul..very sad news indeed.
Do reply here Keef as judging by past experiences her family will see this thread.
I spent some time with Diane over the years, during my time as Doverforum editor and in her capacity as Mayor and then as Deputy Mayor...lots of photographing and chatting and so on, and a very nice lady she was indeed. A warm personality at all times and always flamboyant in dress and style. I have a number of photographs of her. The one above was taken in 2008 ( I believe thats the date will double check) when she was Mayor. it was taken at the time of the unveiling of the seafront statue dedicated to the Merchant Navy. That's Diane on the right in the black hat and dark colours. Someone who clearly tried to do the best for her community. Sad news, a very popular lady.
Yes picture taken september 2008.

Dianne was a very busy cllr going about her business very quietly she was active and stood by the labour party through thick and thin.
Dianne fought for and raised the profile of Dover whilst Mayor, and on the Town Council.
Without doubt Dianne will be sadly missed by both the priory, maxton and elms vale ward constituents, but also the wider District.

Diane and I were ward Cllrs together for many years she fought her illness bravely and I recently saw Brian her husband and he was devistated, he was going to visit her in the Hospice in Canterbury. Diane was always a warm and friendly lady who found nothing was too much for her.Her years as Mayor were superb as she connected with the people of Dover and yet handled the Council solidly too.
She will be missed by me and everone who knew her.She was the Queen of Cllrs. Rest in Peace Diane there is no more pain after all the years of fighting.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

It is indeed sad to here the news about Diane she will be greatly missed, she always took being a councillor very seriously and worked hard in her ward over the years.
She was also a very good Mayor and served times with energy and gusto, people warmed to her and she got on well with everyone.
thoughts are with Brian and her family at this time.

We are terribly sorry to hear this. We have only just learnt this horrible news. We had some lovely conversations with Diane, and it's awful to hear that Dover has lost another light. We are thinking of all the family, and send our greatest sympathies. So sorry.

I am very upset to hear this very sad news. Diane was a lovely lady and loved by many around the town. We got on very well together, she was always ready to greet you with that winning smile of hers. My two daughters were very sad to hear this news too as they were both very fond of her, she always stopped to talk to them from when they were very young to now as grown up young women. She will leave an empty space in the hearts of many who knew her. My sincere condolences go out to Brian, and all the family. R.I.P Diane.
