21:0768195We have a problem with a fellow volunteer who to put it bluntly seems to be loosing the plot, not dementia, just erratic behaviour. She has been there a very very long time.
Should I go to management or not.

21:3768204I would say have a discreet word with management. If this person or anyone else was put at risk or harmed, you would never forgive your self for not making them aware.

21:5368210Paranoia creeping in Jenni?
Jan, speak to management and expect nothing to happen, unless they are indiscrete. In which case you can expect a very unhappy fellow worker.

21:5668211No, I could never let on here who it is but it is definitely not Susan we never see her.
The person concerned is basically fit for her age, although she does like to make the most of the aches and pains that all us oldies get, so is not likely to be a danger to anyone.
The main problem is nobody knows what kind of mood she will be in, so we never know where we are with her. The atmosphere can be very tricky at times which when you are a group of volunteers is not nice at all.

22:2468232Sue the person concerned is away at the moment, I know I can count on your discretion as you might have guessed who I mean. A fellow River inhabitant should be on in the morning that I think you should know.

22:2968235oh dear river, there does seem to be a plethora of mental health problems in that idyllic part of our fair town.
it does sometimes seem that victor is the only sane one there.

22:5968244It is SO difficult when you have someone who is a keen helper/volunteer in any organisation,I know of one in the Dover area who has worked hard for years, but is now losing her short term memory and doing unexpected things like clearing away tables when they don't need clearing, etc. An old uncle of mine played the organ in church for years and years until, aged 90, his daughter had to calmly tell him he was missing the right notes, it did upset him of course, but what is the alternative? sometimes.

23:0468245very good point kath we sometimes we have to turn a blind eye and encourage those who have problems to be part of the mainstream.

07:4468259Thank you all for your replies.
It just goes to show how one can get wound up about something that affects your working area. I completely forgot about Sue and that she would read this thread

. So management now know about the situation anyway.
I do hope we can get things sorted because the person in question has done and continues to do so much for the shop, it is just the atmosphere she is creating that is getting unbearable.

09:3068272Kath, are you sure he wasn't playing all the right notes, just not in the right order, similar to Eric Morecambe?
