19:1440041Looking outside Dover, I note that Commander Dizaei, an Iranian born Muslim, who has come to prominence after many allegations, of which he was exonerated, of malpractice, including Operation Helios, which cost you and I, the taxpayer £4 million, as well as being a regular contributor to the 'press' complaining about racism etc. , has been convicted of perverting the course of justice and misconduct in public office and jailed today.
Dizaei is the national president of the National Black Police Officers Association which I am surprised to find is funded by the Home Office, as is the Gay Police Association (although controversially not the National Trans Police Association who represent trans and intersex Police Officers).
( THINKS - Beachcomber - where are you now? You really could not make up that last paragraph!)
My question is why the Hell I, through my taxes, should fund 'minority' associations in Public Services whose members I expect to treat me without fear or favour?
Furthermore surely the existence of a Black Police Officers Association is just as abhorrent as the refusal of the National Front to accept members who are 'of colour' to use the present euphemism.

19:2040042I have always wondered what the reaction would be if a White Police Officers Association were to be formed. Perhaps someone should do it and see the pc hypocrits in full cry against it.

19:2140043Barry. I believe it's called the Masons!

19:2340044Bob, freemasonry has no problem with coloured members. Your comment is unworthy.

19:5040046Sid. I do apologise for my disingenuous remarks about Freemasonry.
The brethren are, of course open to all colours and creeds, especially if they are low grade local government officers, police officers, small town solicitors, local shop owners and other members of the petit bourgeoisie.

20:5740055Sorry Howard, I hate it when those who clearly don't know what they are talking about make aspersions such as Bob did. UK Freemasonry donates millions to charities every year and is open to all, from Lords to firemen to folks like me. Discussions regarding religion and politics are discouraged, and all races, creeds and colour welcomed. In Lagos alone for example, there are at least two dozen Lodges, all members being Nigerian, or to help Bob, black men.
Bob's apology is not an apology at all, just an entree to more sarcasm and like his previous posting, sucks.

23:4540068Oh come on, you chaps are clearly intelligent, cast your mind back to the Macpherson report which criticised the police for being institutionally racist and I am sure you can join the dots up from there and work it out.

23:5440070Howard, Mr Dizaei was an odious corrupt individual who spent years riding roughshod over his colleagues in the police and his employer and at long last has been found guilty and will be enjoying a number of years in solitary for his own safety.
My post was in response to Bob & Barry's question regarding the need or otherwise for the Black Police Officers Association

08:3540074Ross - the MacPherson report was a disgrace and has damaged policing no end. It should be consigned to the dustbin. The result has to a large effect been to increase the useless paperwork the police have to do and to hamper targetted criminal investigations.

09:0540078As a dyed in the wool leftie I still feel firmly that, however institutionally racist organisations are, scaring them into retreat is not the way forward. In this case, it left people too scared to challenge people of colour for fear of the accusation of racism. I have professional experience of this on many occassions, and it has cost the country millions of pounds in terms of ETs, ITs and investigations in public sector organisations, most of which are unfounded and unnecessary.
