13:2713400Sadly the survey results will be used as further anti-Dover propaganda by those who love to stereotype us.
Obesity is partly linked to poverty - we all know that. And maybe comfort eating because we are all fed up with being told we are rubbish by smug, condescending, ignorant bien pensants with soft, easy lives.

21:4013423Harry - you are a gent. Thank you for that - I am still giggling.

21:4213424PS - I am not poor, underprivileged, illiterate, sick, or depraved. I am, however, fat, because I eat too much and enjoy alcohol too much. I am not a statistic!! Hurrah!!!

13:5313494Bien pensant is French for "good thinkers" - meant ironically of course.
The sort of holier-than-thou placard-wielding misguided left-liberal tyrants from places like Whitstable who see Dovorians as being in need of "education".

13:5813495Hear hear, Andrew. Dovorians getting an unfair bad press again - as usual.

20:3713527i am sure that a similar report covered the majority of the country, not just our fair town.

20:5213535Sorry but I have to object here. I was born and brought up in Whitstable for the first 32 years of my life and I won't hear anyone knocking it! Whitstable is a lovely little town with a lot of friendly people, some of whom are my friends and family. In actual fact it's not unlike Dover in its thinking. So knock somewhere else Andrew - somewhere that deserves it
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

23:3513558Love Whitstable Oysters, they're great! (in Frostie the tiger speak)

23:3613559Howard, I am too old for placards, although I have had a few in my time, know what I mean, nudge nudge........and if I remember rightly the ladies beards were always a better quality than the mens around the old campfires, where we burned bras and old copies of Debretts. Happy Days, when we marched for the freedom to berate men and reclaim the Night, but only if we could burn the odd Aristocrat to keep us warm.

18:4913636Dover does have avery big problem with obestiy where is not alot of work or cash it makes you fill down and do not want to do any thing so you just eat sleep and the old one the T.V. and that can set in for avery long time and inthe end you do not fill like geting out and about and runing and walking, so what can we do about it? that is not easy because it is all about self-motivation when i was a boxer i had to do alot of that to get up and do the training and after aday at work to even come home from working in london then go back there the same night and box ,thgen back home up again and back to london, O,K. I did not have to box but i liked doing it , and that is the point i am trying to make it is all about self- motivation, if you can not do it or help someone to get it ,this obestiy will stay with us and even get bigger, for the young ones two years in the army would help where you have to be self motivated and that is one thing they will do for you, so lets get N.S. BACK and then you will see it all change.

09:5313710I'm not knocking Whistable Jacqui - lovely town and friendly natives as you say. Just the irritating DFL element that have colonised it.
