Dover Community Radio - in the community...

Just to let you know the plans are coming together well for the radio project.
We have been busy making up some downloadable audio files covering events here in Dover, the latest being Hellfire Corner.
Do have a look at the website and have a listen to some of the downloads on the podcasts page.
Some of the other DCR team will be doing more interviews during the summer, and speaking to groups and clubs in Dover.

Yes the interviews went well, a few problems with the recorder we were using, but will all be sorted before the next round!

- 20 June 2010 19:0257265Just to say we've all been extremely busy over the last few weeks...hectic I must say.
However we have been at The Hellfire Corner Weekend and this weekend myself and local singer (and DCR member) Ebony Johnson covered the Youth of Generation (YOG) gigs at Dover Town Hall - it was great fun and Ebony enjoyed herself as radio reporter - we will have her interviews on the website soon!
Today I was up Dover Castle for the 1960s weekend and managed to interview one of the participants there who had a display of old pub games which people could try and was most interesting to talk too as well. Plus great music, we are managing now to promote DCR further in the community. If you have a positive story about Dover, a event you think we should cover or your a local group and want to do a interview email us on info@dovercommunityradio.co.uk
We also have a meeting tommorrow night (Monday 21st June) at The White Horse pub at 7pm - see you there!

Press Release 2: 30 June 2010
Dover Community Radio's second public meeting occurred on Monday 21st June at The White Horse Pub in Dover seeing the pub packed full of eager participants interested in the vision of ''community radio'' for Dover. During the evening DCR established teams to run the community radio project. This included news, promotions and marketing, youth, events, technical and local music. We will be establishing new roles to run the station as it develops. DCR also welcomed a number of new faces at the last meeting and we are pleased to have them on board as interest in the station grows. We would like to thank all members and supporters for their interest and dedication so far.
During the last few weeks we have been attending local events and have a variety of 'podcasts' on the website covering a range of topics. These included the Hellfire Corner Weekend, Rolls Royce Celebrations, Dover Castle's 1960's weekend and the last Youth of Generations Gig in Dover Town Hall. Here we learnt about the local music scene and included interviews with such up and coming musicians as Eclipze, Luke Jackson and Queef to name a few. We would urge all local musicians to get in touch with us as we would like to promote their music via our website and on our proposed radio station.
DCR will be on air from the 20th November until 5th December across Dover on FM to promote Dover's Christmas Cheer Extravaganza and Lights Switch On Event in conjunction with Dover Town Council. We shall be undertaking a 'online' broadcast to train members of the team and promote the FM broadcast the week before we come on air.
The training schemes are going well as a many members have signed up to participate in interview and editing sessions during the summer. We also have a list of events we are aiming to cover during the summer months on both the radio station and its website. These are also training sessions as our members learn interview techniques in the field as a number of our members have already participated in. Our collaboration with local schools is also increasing and will get students involved during the summer. We would be keen to hear from any schools or community groups who wish to be involved with DCR.
As part of a marketing strategy we are also aiming to run a poster competition to advertise the station. This will also include a competition to create a slogan for DCR to use on our website and on air. We would be very interested to hear from any schoolchildren who would like to participate. The poster must include a image of the stations logo which can be found on our website. We will of course, be bringing you more information on these competitions as and when they are confirmed.

- 11 July 2010 20:0959999Dover Community Radio have been out and about in the last few weeks at the following events:
- Lydden & Temple Ewell Moth Evening - fantastic evening out seeing some interesting species of moths
- Alkham Fete yesterday - really enjoyed that in the summer sun and would like to thank Paul Tapsell for allowing us to do interviews
- River Summer Fayre today - enjoyed talking to the Medway Queen people, the bird display organisers and River Scout group plus Dover Transport Museum.
The reports, pictures and podcasts will be on the site in the next few weeks so keep checking back as things are always updated and it takes a little bit of time getting them on there.
In the week our reporter Greg will hopefully be doing a report on the White Cliffs Boat Tours, the DCR team hope to have a representative at the youth centre meeting and we shall be reporting on Archers Court fete next Saturday. The team here at DCR would like to thank Dover for your continued support and personally we would like to thank our team for all their hard work. I am hoping to do a report in the next few weeks on the White Cliffs Creative Guild as well.

Well done everyone once again on your hard work and enthusiasm - its great to see!
- 11 July 2010 22:2960027This has the making of soming well done ,I know a lot of work has gone into it by Terry and his team of helpers and I for one look forward to the very first broadcast of the Dover Community Radio, we all need to get behind it to keep it on the air and it is the funding at is needed the most,so if you are holding a event and would like to help the Radio please think about holding a collection for them it all helps.
