Hi
Just thought I'd remind forumites of this forthcoming event:
16th August 2008-17th August 2008
Horticultural show in Pencester Gardens, Dover from 11 am - 4pm with lots of activities e.g displays, music, East Kent Morris Men, pet show , craft stalls, kiddies corner and much more.
Let's hope the sun is smiling down on Pencester over the weekend.

I should be there but I am working and do not know at this time what hours I will be doing, but I know it is going to be great on both days.

Not often Howard, so don't get the connection!
Just heard the shipping forecast. The outlook for the next few days is severe gales in the Dover Strait. Never mind chaps, British phlegm will stick it out!!
Oh dear, has the summer gone? Had to put the light on to get dressed earlier!
Terry
ps To clear up any misunderstanding, I used the alternative definition of phlegm, i.e. Stubborn, Coolness!
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Yes indeed Ms Gloria Hunniford will be there at 11am opening the proceedings along with the Mayor. Lets hope they get better weather for the event than we are getting right now..one glance out the window right now at the awful seas and black skies doesnt fill one with optimism for these pleasant summer events. Still, hopefully saturday and sunday will be okay. Will aim to go and get a picture for those that cant make it.

You did Marek - and me and every one else who lives here. If she brings in the crowds and it's a success, I guess that's O.K.
Weather's been kind today.

Gloria was great. On monday I made it my ambition to have my photo taken with her, something I have now achieved! It's going to be a good weekend!

I heard on the grapevine it cost £3000 to lure Gloria here...seems rather expensive?

I hope that was not the true cost.We did our Connaught fete for less than that.I do recall years ago someone wanted Vera Lynn to open something It was to do with The White Cliffs Experience.DDC were not prepared to pay out the money.

I heard £5000 Marek
I thought when the previous Mayor invited her to Dover, note the word invite, she gracefully accepted, for £5000.00.I would have opened it for a fiver
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
Make it a fiver and a G&T and I'm yours.......

Talking of drinks..this well known muck stirrer saw a debonir forum editor escort 2 beautiful ladies into a well known hostelry and order Pimms o'clock all round..
Prince Charming,Prince Charming now break out into the dance and singalong. My lips are sealed as to whom was in the party as I have already been admonished by a number of forumites for putting my wooden spoon into the pot and stirring things up
