It's this weekend so get down to the seafront and join in on one of Dover's biggest events.
Hopefully there will not be as many wasps hovering over the French pastry stall as there were in previous years.
We have donated a large homemade cake to the Dover Carnival Court ..so buy a raffle ticket.
ps We didn't bake the cake but a local girl Jenny who works with Marites did and its super..go and have a look it will be on the Ramada stall.

I think therefore I am (not a Tory supporter)

I would just like to say a huge thank you to all those of you who supported DCAL on buying a raffle ticket over the weekend at Regatta we had some lovely prizes. (The cake Marek was beautiful and was graciously received by the winners this evening)
Here are the list of winners which was drawn at the Regatta this evening around 4.45pm by Court of Kent Queen (Stacey), Miss Dover (Loren), Dover Princess (Nina), Junior Miss Dover (Jordan) & Junior Princess (Stacey) witnessed by Gehan (GM - Ramada) plus stallholders.
Winners of the raffle are as follows :-
Green 0464 Scott Parnham (Delivered)
Green 0320 Frank Brenchley (To be Delivered)
Green 0254 Darren (message left)
Green 0390 Margeret Moore (Delivered)
Green 0218 Mr & Mrs Brading (Delivered)
The Regatta is brilliant for Dover, It was so lovely to see so many people even in the rain yesterday that support this event, lots of local people, together with visitors from afar just for Regatta weekend. Excellent, and a big well done to all those involved I know how difficult it can be putting on an event for the town.

i must second that last post, it was a great weekend despite the weather.
a never ending stream of stalls, and a great turn out, how many other places would have such enthusiasm in rainy and dark conditions.
gordon skeggs was great as MC as usual, charlie chuckles kept the kids amused.
best for me, yet again, was the newfoundland dogs.
not that i would give one house room though, one would need a lorry load of pedigree chum delivered every week, together with a ton of plastic bags.

Well done to everyone behind the scenes, alas we couldn't be there this year.
Hi just a note to say that ticket Green 0254 should have read Mr Warren (which has now been claimed and waiting to be delivered). Many thanks Terri

An enjoyable day, as you say a great turnout! Saskia, Fifi & I enjoyed sitting in the rain sharing an interesting mixture of olives, German curried bratwurst & garlic bread, Mmmmmm. It was good to see so many friends and forumites even though the weather was not with us (Thanks for the cockle, Linda H)
I agree, the Newfoundlands are great dogs, but Jeez, the size of them!

baz
last year i made the mistake of stroking one of the newfoundland dogs, took me weeks to get rid of the wet doggy smell.
did you notice that they had a list of famous people that had one on their travels?
the best one was general custer, during the civil war, had one as a "lucky mascot"!!!!!

Just an aside here Howard. Did you know that Custers 7th cavalry shared their troop song, the 'Garry Owen', with the Light Brigade who used it during the Crimea War and that the Native American name for the site of the last stand, Greasy Grass was also the Zulu name for Isandwahla.
The regatta was a good show this year and the food stalls were plentiful, and with a great variety. Well done the organisers and shame about the weather.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

By strange coincidence, that was the first thing that Saskia noticed when we passed a Newfoundland as we arrived, as in 'Pater, did you notice the rather strong canine aroma emitted by that rather large doggie? or more like, 'Phoar, that dog stinks'
