takes me back, me and a load of others were outside upton park after a game against fulham waiting for johnny haynes to appear so that we could get his autograph.
eventually he appeared and patiently signed our books.
upon getting home i spotted that it was someone called johnny key that we had accosted, in those days most players looked much the same due to poor diet and half a tub of brylcream on their quiff.

I remember Terry Adlington being the manager in early 70's. He used to drink in the Castle Inn.

Howard, I have had the free TV licence for over 12 months now. At least they didn't take that off us.

Strange you should post that, Alec. I have just been on one of the BBC Message Booards and the posh rich Guardian and Times readers are moaning that that little perk is not deserved. Miserable bunch.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

No it isn't compulsory Howard, thank God.
Jan, there are some rich pensioners who probably don't need the free licence but I am not one of them.

I think one of the most successful managers was atguy called Jack Clover? took the Whites from old Southern League First to Premier, step below old fourth division of Football League.

vic
most threads go off of the original topic, though i agree with what you say, there is nothing to stop things going off at a tangent.
