A glorious sunny, Summer`s day in Dover today. The market this morning seemed to be doing better than last week, with possibly, another stall or two? Bumped into Terry Nunn up M&S.

The chap on the left has just fired, but the nearest rifle didn`t go off. The seargent major is nearest the camera. An excellent event, and professionally carried out, well done to all.

The chap with the white glove gave a facinating talk on all the equipment the soldier had to carry with him, plus the workings of the rifle, and the effectiveness of the lead ball fired from the rifle at the enemy.

Are you there Jenni? Sorry if I missed you, I did keep an eye open round the tents for any female occupants.

I did more marching than those soldiers this morning. Up Military Hill, down the moat, up umpteen steps, down and back up again, and back down via the A20. Lots of wild flowers about.

The Soldier carrying all the Equipment is a mate of mine we worked with each other for some years, and we was working in London fitting a ladder and there was not much room and he went to hook the ladder up and his back went and he was in a bad way for some years and could not work anymore a very good worker and good mate.

And to end my day, a cruise liner leaving port, stern first in the heat haze. Plenty happening in our town today. Thanks to all. P.S. Bumped into Vic, and wife Lesley up there, nice to see you both again.

#2. Maybe that`s why the market place looked bigger this morning Howard. Certainly colourful. I spotted another pig on the spit again. I don`t know if anyone on here`s tasted it yet? Is £3.50 for a pork roll tempting?

I was at the tunnels today, not the western heights one,the ones from Tower Hamlets to St Rad's,bumped into Derek Leach who tells me he is doing a book on Dover's tunnel.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
