12:2775279The more red berries you see, the harder the winter will be.
Thats what I was always told from an early age and Ive never realy thought about it until today.
out walking with the dogs I suddenly realised that everywhere is awash with Red berries.
Ive never seen so many.

All of the Teasle has been picked clean by the finches going abroad and now stand like a dead monument to the summer months.
Culours of every sort lay on the ground.
I know of a Walnut tree that produces a very good crop every year, this year it has already been stripped by the Squirrels ready for winter.
It makes you wonder doesn't it?

15:3075293A countryman will tell you it's a sign of a hard winter coming.
A botanist will tell you it's a sign of the hard winter last year that gave the trees a good rest.
I just know we've run out of space for storing jars of jam, jelly, chutney etc etc

18:4475324I want 10 foot snow drifts this Christmas Eve, as I know I won`t be working any part of it. Sorry about that, it`s just to show an example of Richard Dawkins selfish genes we all have.

We have also almost run out of space for storing jams and chutneys and my freezer is full.
Result of over-enthusiastic son urging us to plant more and more veg !!
Apple Chutney, Plum Chutney, and there will be at least another lot in the pot soon.
Pumpkin looking good.
