13:3537535Why do celebrities and the media constantly advocate plastic surgery? It's legitimising the dangerous lengths some will go to for so called fame and beauty. Young people are being bombarded by images of so called 'perfection' (who decides what is perfect anyway?) and getting something 'fixed' is becoming as normal as popping to the corner shop. All surgery carries risks. I'm not saying don't have something corrected after long and careful thought if it is causing a major problem which is impacting on other areas of your life, but I do really think that some people need to be thankful they are alive and as healthy as they are.

14:2637536Beauty comes from within. It's not about what you look like, but young kids don't see it that way, so by marketing plastic surgery at teens and twenty-somethings, it becomes an easy target demographic because they want it in the first place.
Personally, I think plastic surgery looks awful - especially boob jobs - but how often do I hear young girls aspiring to these dreadful plastic things? Nothing man made matches nature, in any sphere of life.

14:4837537I agree it rarely looks good. You just see these photos of women (and men) with really tight looking faces and 'cat's eyes' that look as if they can't close - ekkkkkk!
I've just been reading about a lovely looking 23 year old girl having TEN procedures..............

15:0637538Jeane, with or without your posts, I would rather meet some normal being like yourself or other`s on here than any one of those celebrities, (sickly word), with their false images and money, any day. I don`t believe in a god up there, and I most certainly don`t believe in any down here, but I think a number of people down here do, and that the plastic and cosmetics will make them into one. Excellent Andy, just what I`ve said on other posts on here, man will never match nature on anything.

08:2237640I think the saddest part is that so many young girls go for plastic surgery probably in order to become a z list celebrity.
There are those though who do have a real self-confidence problem that cosmetic surgery cures and I can understand that, but it's the shallow ones I think are silly - and sad.
How long does cosmetic surgery last ? and you have to keep it up, other wise your face or whatever it was, starts to go - most-times, southwards.
Some ladies don't like the thought of their attrractive looks fading and time or age can be very cruel - just look at Bridget Bardot, but then look at Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor and even Honor Blackman and Joan Collins, they still look lovely and they're in their 70's I'm sure.

I read the yahoo headlines on here a short while ago about the Oscars in Hollywood last night, and they were concentrating more on the `Best Dressed`rather than the films. Here`s one I picked out at random. Who she is etc is of no interest to me, but she is smartly dressed. I suspect the cost of that dress would clothe a small African tribe.

@ Brian's comment.
Yes it's the lovely Sandra and the dress is by a British designer, Marchesa.
Strange few days for Sandra Bullock, who of course can't act for toffee. She wins an Oscar, probably to keep the thing in America more than any other reason, and also won WORST Actress of the year award at the Razzies.
Personally think she is just another talentless wench.

I'm a big fan of Sandra Bullock - when she's good, she's very very good and when she's poor she is atrocious. She's chosen to be in a plethora of absolute rubbish films lately - haven't seen the one she's just won the Oscar for, so can't judge, but I have to say that Sandra Bullock is about as big a star in the States as it's possible to be, and this award was, at one time or another, inevitable if only for the immensity of her popularity.
For me, the 2006 movie The Lake House was her best - and if this latest film is half as good, it will be very good indeed. I just wish she would steer clear of the poorly scripted romantic comedies she's favoured recently: they're really not her forte.
