Sometimes it's a nostalgia thing. I remember, when younger, going to a flea-pit somewhere in London to see Zulu. Mid-movie the screen flickered and the place went dark: someone shouted "put a shilling in the meter!". Happy days.....Sometimes I rather like the idea of visiting a "flea-pit" as a journey back to the cartoon cinema days of my youth, to reminisce and wander around in my memories for a while.

Ah! the flea-pit brings back some great memories, the Ritz, Balham, the Hole-in-the-Wall, Clapham. Saturday morning pictures with your mates, watching old re-runs of Rin-Tin-Tin and ancient episodes of Flash Gordon, it was great to have at least 3 birthdays before you were caught out, to enjoy the experience of Happy Birthday being shouted by a hundred kids, Fun, Happy Days.
Bern, I too remember the Cartoon cinemas in Piccadilly Circus and Victoria station.
Happy Days, Barry.....

Sorry I thought Cloverfield was abit naff....it was that home made shaky camera thing, just got on my nerves in the end. It worked a lot better in The Blair Witch Project.
Can definately recommend Gran Torrino with Clint Eastwood, he's still fantastic and what is he.....78? And I can never get over how he manages to generate so much spit!!
I know a million ways to always pick the wrong thing to say

i have great memories of cinema, not so much the films, but the wags in the audience.
i remember seeing a horror film where they were going through this black magic ritual, it involved a chalice of urine being passed around, everyone taking a sip.
a plaintive voice in the stalls cried out the immortal words "same again barman"!!
Hey Jeanette, you see I told you I was the only one that loved Cloverfield!!

I enjoyed Cloverfield too. A monster destroying a city was totally unoriginal, but it was filmed in a fresh way.
Anyway, much as I am loathe to say anything good about TESCOs, they are currently selling Quantum of Solace for just £7 online today and tomorrow. Be quick, 007.

Hi Phil - I bought it yesterday, amazing price. They were selling like hot-cakes. I think it's the first Bond movie I've bought.
Look forward to watching it.

Roger,
QoS acts as a sequel to Casino Royale so if you have not seen it, I'd recommend that you try and catch that first, otherwise what transpires will just seem confusing. I've just bought Casino for less than £4 new from Play.com, so I'd recommend going there to get it. Probably cheaper than hiring it!
