Here is our Sue at last years ceremony at the entrance to Deal Pier. A nice ceremony and they do a good one here in Dover. I have been at the event in recent years and hopefully will go this time all being well.
A nice event if it ever stops raining long enough to enjoy.

rev andy bawtree conducted a short ceremony, he is either checking the flag or having a word with his boss here.
andy made the cardinal sin of referring to the council chairwoman, needless to say he was swiftly corrected.
first chance to meet the new prospective parliamentary for the reds, the personable clair hawkins.

Just a thought - if this ceremony can be rotated between Dover, Deal and Sandwich annually, why not do the same for the DDC AGM.
That way there might not be the complaints that nobody ever goes to the hinterland of Whitfield to see the goings on.

And of course the chap between Sue and Anne is Sue's deputy, Paul LeChevalier, councillor from Deal. As a former copper I expect he's felt a few collars!

Great set of photos guys - well done.
A lovely day for the flag-raising, good to see so many people there.
A lovely invite to everyone to take tea with the Mayor, but I couldn't because I had to get back home.

Here we are with another couple of pix...
The trumpet blows and in the background you can see the gathered group attending the ceremony. There are some familiar faces there..you can see Roger, Chris P, Nadeem Aziz, Gordon, and the latest candidate Clair Hawkins who will fight the next general election for Labour against Charlie Elphicke.
Cllr Mick Smith shares a jocular moment with the Mayor herself Cllr Anne Smith. They are also a married couple of course and Mick acts as the Mayors escort this year.
