I have just seen Terry's picture in POST 17
gosh what a transformation. I havent been over that way in a little while and am amazed to see it.
This is what it used to look like, grim, what a wonder revival...
I used this picture quite a few years ago on a frontpage spread showing some of the more grimey aspects of local decay.

Yes have been watching the progress of this on my way to work each morning, and yes to what it looked like in the above picture, to what it looks like now so much better. Also the builing along Castle street is begining to look restored as well if anyone can get a picture.

was admiring it myself this morning when a town councilor who has been heavily involved in the 215 notice process came along. the original owners(overseas) immediately put the building up for auction and the 215 document is presented with title deeds to the buyer.
good work from behind the scenes here.

I think the Town Councillor needs a pat on the back for pursuing this.

I think he should be named and publicly thanked, along with others who managed to overcome DDC officers' reluctance to embark upon s215 action.

Pat did very well to convince the Town Council to work with DDC to get these 215s started and it is beginning to make a difference to the Town.
I worked on this some years ago, but didn't get anywhere - partly because DDC had just lost their Planning Enforcement Officer and they didn't have the human and financial resources then to do anything.
Not to worry, it's going now and working well too.

Roger I remember how many times I bent your ear across the bar on the subject. Nigel's too. Great to see it all bearing fruit.

I think you could be right with reference to the recessed canopy Scotchie, do you know what businesses used the premises in the distant past
