    Samuel FOOTE Esq: "On Saturday the celebrated Samuel FOOTE Esq. went through this City (ie Canterbury) on his road to Paris" (Kentish Gazette Jan 11 1787)

    Samuel FOOTE Esq. Died at the Ship Inn, (Dover) 21 Oct 1777 and taken to London. A plain stone in his memory given by his friend Mr Wm JEWELL (stone in St Marys Church, Dover)
