Good news for someone
- 16 February 2010 18:2440793Linda and Victoria were sledging on Friday at Whitfield Hill and they found a very nice, expensive mobile phone in the snow.
Linda took it to the Police Station on Saturday and at the very same time at the counter behind her were the people who had lost it! What an amazing coincidence to be able to return it immediately, the teenager owner was over the moon as it was a Christmas present and she later turned up at our house with a box of chocolates as thanks - they were eaten very quickly by us all.
Second coincidence is that Linda knew the mother through her school contacts - they had spoken many times on the phone, but they had never met - wasn't until they exchanged names that they found out.

Briony lost her phone too in the snow in London and I had a call from a very nice lady who found me (Mum) listed on her phone. Briony went around to her to collect it with a bunch of flowers to say thank you, there are still some very nice people about 
- 16 February 2010 19:0640799Both very good storys just like last year when I lost well over £100 in River and a lady picked it up,told the girls in the co-op she had it and left her address and I went in asking if anyone had pick any money up,and I got it back.and that was not the first time it had happen to me but always got it back.

i don;t know of anyone that would not try to trace the owner of a wallet or purse, or just hand in at the police station. - 16 February 2010 19:1640802The biggest problem today is not just the money, but any plastic cards you may have, all of which will need reporting and replacing if you don`t get them back.Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

I thought why the hell did I bother on a second occasion I found a mobile phone on Pencester but couldn't had it in til the next day as I was getting a train to London and thought it best to hand it in at Dover the following day...I was then questioned at length as to why it took 24 hours for me to report it????? and one closing shot I passed over a very nice gold designer watch I found in the snow and went back to the old bill 3 months or so later to enquire if it had been claimed..."We 'av no record of a watch being handed in Sir are you sure it was this police station you handed into?"...allo allo.!!!!! Now I don't bother picking anything up but just leave it for someone else to find...sorry...but there it goes.Marek
