Does anyone know what's going on, I have been hearing a helicopter circling for a good 10 minutes now.

Weirdest heli I've ever heard. Sounds like it's powered by coal or wood.

Oh no, how awful! I hope that's not true. Didn't hear any sirens or anything beforehand so did not expect it to be a medical emergency. Fingers crossed that's only a rumour.

It did at least three circles that would have included DGGS and Morrisons car park as it was right overhead, the noisy thing could do with a silencer being fitted.

Thank you Martin, that explains why it was circling overhead and well done to the police.

Cant help thinking its a bit of an over reaction from the police, a helicopter to catch a burglar.

It does at times appear that there has ever been an odd quirk of logic applied to matters crime & criminal, so different from that applied elsewhere:Education, Health...Defence etc.
If it were to be otherwise one might expect the helicopter to be sold, the crew dispensed with and the joys of insurance played-up.

Or perhaps a halfway house Tom of swapping a helicopter for a bike or panda car.

it does smack of sledgehammer walnut syndrome, must have cost a few bob to deploy a helicopter.

The helicopter may well have been up anyway and the heat-sensitive cameras they carry might have helped where tens of bobbies might not.
At the bottom lies the high-street/online Fence, and the illegality of drugs.
I wonder if the case is different for Local Authority controlled Schools and those run for profit, in that the first might buy in bulk and insist the laptops are less useful outwith the school and the others just go for the cheapest deal?

Oh I see, we've now got helicopers circling in case a burglary occurs.

Ahem...I am sure that pilots and crew are required to do a certain amount of hours flying and that the machine itself must be tested regularly.
Anyroadup, these officers are, and this equipment is, there to be used. It is not 'possible' to arrange for a fatal road accident or brutal slaying to occur just so as they can all keep their hand in.
