how did you get in the drivers cab john?
you must have lied about your age.

December's not far away now and I'm sure the next few months will fly by.
I thought all the "public realm" area was supposed to be completed by then, but walking over the bridge the other day, it still looked uncared for - the station building, the street scene and the waist-high weeds where the trees used to be.

I like that one John.Perhaps when Nigel returns he will walk round his ward not just Castle Street .I have received complaints re the weeds etc growing in Park Avenue ,Castle Avenue
Sometimes you need your feet on the ground .Its groundwork that counts.
I think I should have been invited John I could have worn my Tory Blue hat .,
You could all have taken tea in the drivers cab and made use of the newly-knitted tea cosy!

Got on the train and the cab as Southeastern drive to convince thier staff on how good the trains are,no goodies Howard in fact the only reward was a 13 hour day.
No refeshments are served on the train not even tea the reason you try getting thru a 6 car train supplying tea and then having time to drink it in 30mins
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

i still see the positive side, not all of dovorians will be willing to pay the supplement.
nevertheless city high flyers with an income like posh barry will start to look at dover as a very nice escape at the end of a stressful day, with lower property prices.

As someone who commutes every day to the City it certainly appeals to me the prospect of saving almost 2 hours a day on my travel time.

All we need to do now is have a Dover where people with lots of (or even some) spending money.
Quality houses don't always have to mean new houses; there's some lovely Victorian houses up Folkestone Road, that before the developers moved in and converted them to a 100 little boxes per building for renting out - creating a transient population that don't give a stuff where they live, were good quality homes and houses.
We need the station and surrounding area to be a spring-board to urban regeneration here.

and so say all of us.
first impression counts for a lot, the surround of the station must be improved.
it is disgraceful what has been done to the lovely old houses in the folkestone road.
i can remember when one was being worked on, the front door was open revealing some beautiful victorian mouldings.
the very next day they were in a skip outside.

It's scandalous Howard.
I walked the Folkestone Road with a senior DDC officer the other day and very successful it was too.
He is going to organise a Multi-Agency meeting in the next couple of weeks, so at least the appearances of the street-scene can be resolved.
A big step forward, let's hope it brings results.

fingers crossed roger, the state of the place is an embarrassment to the town.
i know of places in the past where lovely old buildings were converted into the shoe boxes that we see, then a decade later, people started to move in and converted them back into the original house.
this was in a community where a lot of asians lived, they tend to live as extended families, so as their businesses thrived they wanted to stay in the same area but needed a bigger house, hence the conversions back to the original.

I'd love to see those boxes returned to family homes; greater pride in the area and less trouble too.
If there were lots of Asians living here, hopefully there'd be lots more curry houses too !

I hate curry but suppose it would be nice for others lol
I have to work with the ghurka's a lot, anfd as you can imagine they are very proud people, before i was inttroduced to them for the first time I was told they always offer you a drink or food if you go in there home/workplace and they feel offended if you refuse!
one ghurka offered me sa hot curried chicken(it blew my head off) but knowing there traditions i ate it
Nepalese food isd lovely, sometimes to spicey and hot but it is alwayus lovely
Not that i go around eating food all the time far to busy of course lol
