I think the process being introduced is a vast improvement from a tenants perspective as there is some real element of choice.
Of course there are issues over the type and quantity of housing available, but that is down to close to 30 years of central government denying local communities the right to decide the appropriate split between council owned social housing, independent provision of social housing and private landlord rented properties.
What is wrong with this is the lack of real consultation on the implementation of a government policy.
Councillors are elected to make decisions - yes, however they are also elected to represent the best interests of their constituents and failing to properly consult on a matter so fundamental to so many in the district is frankly unacceptable.
