Has anyone else noticed the increase in cones, litter, temporary metal signs and potholes in the District. They all seem to be multiplying

I was thinking the same thing about litter on my walk this morning. Walking up Green Lane from Brookfield Avenue the amount of litter is incredible and the path is slowly disappearing into the undergrowth.
Road are definitely getting worse too. Chucking a bit of tarmac into a pot hole and calling it a repair is just stupid.

Alot of the metal road signs often dont get taken away once work is completed.Theres quite a few places around Dover where theyve just been left.As for potholes,i started driving in the early 80s but i have never seen the roads in such a state as they are now.As a country in general,we seem to be really going down the pan with so many things.

In my road where I live I reported pot holes three times. The first two times they said nothing to worry about and cancelled the tickets. The third time I made two phone calls and on the third phone call I made a complaint. Eventually the filled in eleven/twelve pot holes in the same 20 yards after three months. They say they will be repaired within 28 days. They said they will resurface the area in April. They have run out of money this year.
As for litter after the refuse collections have passed they seem to forget to come round and collect the litter…
I also walk down to town occasionally from Aycliffe. They are piles litter left in several places.
I have mentioned this several times to our councillors and they say they regularly walk around the the area

It would help if the public picket it up outside their own homes and streets. When I lived and worked in Germany it was the done thing and at weekends they were out cleaning the paths and phone box.

About 80 or so yards up Green Lane from Brookfield there's a path leading to Maresfield Close (pic below, taken 4 Jan). If you enjoy litter, this is the place for you. And if you're lucky, you'll pass a wasted young man in a black & white checked jacket and soiled track-suit bottoms, standing amid the rubbish, smoking a joint while checking his phone messages.
But for a comprehensive litter experience, I'd advise walking Mayfield from Astley Avenue, through Maresfield into Green Lane, then taking a right after the railway bridge up the path to Napier.

This week the verge on the left hand side of Green Lane has been cut back, which means all of the litter that was in the greenery is now just lying there.
Of course if the people doing it had any sense then someone would have followed behind picking up the rubbish.

With any large organisation or business where it depends on departments talking to each other.
common sense is rarely around, even if it means saving time or money.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I saw a council hoover-truck followed by a litter-picker-upper doing exactly this around 10am this morning.

I’ll take a look after work.
I wonder if it was going to be done or a reaction to this thread?

I e-mailed our local DDC councillors about the amount of litter left behind after our refuse collections and how often no one comes round afterwards to pick it up. This is one response:
Good morning Mr Dodd,
Thank you for your communication.
Please may I suggest you go directly to Veolia, it will be the quickest way to find a solution.
Have a good day.
What is the point of our councillors when they know it is the responsibility of DDC to ensure our streets are clean.

I do find these days that's the limit of what councillors do.
You could therefore cut out the middle man (councillor) and go direct to the officer
Watch them squirm if that ever happened lol
