For a few weeks now there has been a court case going on involving Jack Tweed and Anthony Davis who were both accused of raping a nineteen year old girl.
Today the jury took only a few minutes to throw the case out and find both men innocent of rape.
What I fail to understand is this; someone makes a false accusation that could potentially ruin the lives of two young men, and yet they cannot be named. Almost every day for the last few weeks Jack Tweed has been in the press in relation to this case. The stigma will take him and Anthony a very long time to deal with, if indeed they ever can.
Yet, the girl is still protected and untainted by any of the media coverage. That cannot be right and I think she should be named and shamed. Different of course if they had been found guilty and she was a genuine victim.

I totally agree with you Sid. Rape is a truly terrible thing and to falsely accuse someone is despicable. People always assume there is no smoke without fire, how many innocent men's lives have been ruined because of false claims. Shocking, these women should be named and shamed.
All true, and if it was my husband or son accused I would be homicidal. But we also need to factor in how hard it is for women to report rape, and support that. A woman who makes a false rape claim also makes it more difficult for a victim to report a real rape.

sadly this is now a common thing.
certain girls realise that to sh*g a premiership footballer or celebrity will make them famous.
if they cry "rape" win or lose they will be on an earner with the tabloid press.
bern makes a very good point about genuine victims.
