17:2838635I remember Oliver Twist and Great Expectations on the BBC in the early 60s Howard, and maybe I saw David Copperfield but can`t remember it. I rather think today the younger generation wouldn`t be interested in any of Dicken`s, unless the hollywood fantasy factory turned out their own versions of our classic books, complete with the usual distortions of the original stories. Anyway, yes inflation does appear to be up.

You are correct Bill Fraser played Mr Micawber to Ian McKellan who played Master David Copperfield in a 1966 TV production.
He will always be remembered as Claude Smudge to Alfie Bass 'Bootsie' Bisley in Bootsie and Smudge.Bloody excellent. Written by Barry Took and Marty Feldman no less.

after they left the army, i seem to remember a sequel where bootsie and snudge got jobs in the same hotel, with snudge dominating bootsie again.

19:2738655I`ve got a 1960 episode of Bootsie and Snudge, which I taped off the tv back in the 90s. Nostalgic to look back on.
