I see Phil was more than tongue in cheek there when he spoke about the ex-bishops 'high profile'. The sad fact is that nobody knows or has heard of him. He participated in nothing at all. He was nowhere to be found at any of the civil ceremonies. The religious aspect to ceremonies (and it is amazing how we still like and need some religiosity), whether it be cruise liner launches or remembrance days or indeed anything at all, is/was always carried out by local Rev David Ridley...and a fine job he continues to do. To my mind a bishop should not be loftily high church, but should get out there amongst his flock.

It is very sad this low profile thing, especially at times like these when the faithful need serious rallying. Beleaqured as we are these days by all other cultures and other religions, its worthwhile remembering that we have one of our own..our culture and religion is all wrapped up as one. We are very much a Christian culture.
