sorry to say this charlotte but a restaurant that has links with a funeral director would not inspire me to eat there.

Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

I thought this looked shut all the time recently. Can't say I ever went there it never appealed to me. I seem to remeber it being an Italain before and was always uncomfortable there as its so big and all the empty seats used to put me off.
I did, however, try out La Scala for the first time last week. What fantastic tasty food and nice atmosphere!

I remember the mention of Funeral director in the local paper for the advertising feature. As Howard mentions in post 21,it didnt do much for my appetite either, although i,m sure it was a very good restaurant.

I'm sure that 'Jack's' has a business tie up with Baguette Ella.
Agreed with your previous statement regarding the previous owner Roger

Reading the link in post 28 i dont think that the article helped the business at all.The mention of dying and funerals certainly isnt the best way to get started.

Everyone in Dover knows and respects Derek Farrier and I can't see this as being connected in any way with Jack's demise. Purely an income and expenditure problem - not enough income to pay for the expenditure.

I doubt it was the main reason for the restaurant to close, money is tight and people cant afford to eat out very often, but the headline "food to die for", followed by the words "Funerals"etc surely couldnt have helped. It doesnt bother everyone but its all still a touchy subject for many people.

It also explained why the well-done steak a friend of mine ordered was totally cremated.

That one had me coffin and spluttering. The house white wine must have been a nice Graves. For the teetotallers, Croaka-Cola.
