It just goes to show how the change in flavour of the month status can affect business bigtime. Scratching head trying to remember, but I think I had shares in JJB Sports one time in their early years, and at the time they were going stratospheric as a company from almost nothing. But years move on and a business goes out of favour..or out of fashion, and then comes the slide. Seen it many times over the years. So many of the 1980's trendies have long since gone...will JJB hang on? These businesses might do exactly the same things that made them fashionable in the first place, but the mojo is gone.

Good picture, Howard- you caught Franco from La Scala restaurant striding rapidly out of shot!

I wish them well, but it doesn't look favourable for a rescue plan - the other sports companies will be like vultures ready to peck at the remains.
Hope the Dover site remains - I'd have thought that with the Olympics, it would have done well with people being inspired to take up varous sports - maybe they have, but not with JJB.

been in there a few times and can't remember buying anything, always seems to be more staff than customers.
their rival in the bouverie centre folkestone is always busy and i have actually bought things there.
maybe it is as paul indicated earlier in the thread it is a case of being flavour of the month?

Whilst I sympathise for all the staff and their jobs there the company has to remain competitive. I never go there, why, because Sports Direct sell the same brands and much more for less price.
As we all know the same has happened to much of our high street chains as the supermarkets have beaten prices.

I will ask again;
what has folkestone got that dover hasn't?
what does folkestone do to bring in the crowds that dover doesnt?
being in folkestone at least once a day i see the sea front, and area packed each day.
