I've just heard some terrible news. Well-known and much-loved Dovorian family man, journalist, DHB PR chief and Dover Athletic supporter Keith Southey passed away last night. He was 53.
I'm sure you will all join me in extending our thoughts and prayers to his family at this awful time.
RIP Keith, God bless,
Andy

Very very sad .May he rest in peace
Dreadful news indeed. Keith was always a great supporter of DCAL from when we first began, and I know I speak for all the Carnival committee past and present, when I say what a good man he was.
R.I.P Keith you will be sadly missed

Gosh that is a shock. You keep hearing about statistics telling us we are all living longer but it doesnt ring true with the amount of younger deaths you hear about. Only met him a few times but he was always a very pleasant guy. Great shame.

Must add my bit here. I've known Keith since he was a cub reporter on the DE. He was a really nice bloke, always helped me with the GHBS and then the LRCF.
I am stunned.

I knew Keith had been ill for somewhile,so young and such a nice man our thoughts are with Bettina and family.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
Absolutely knocked me for six when I heard this. We have known Keith for several years now through the football club, and a nicer man you could never wish to meet. Our thoughts are with his wife and family at this sad time.

This is very sad news indeed.
A well respected man by all who knew and worked with him. Definitely missed by all at the Harbour Board.
He was on the launch of the LD Lines service back in February and indeed on the launch of the Norman Arrow, a speech was given by Nick Stevens, wishing him well.

Great guy Keith . met him at LD Lines launch months back and we had a very 'to the point' conversation about his health problems and how he was coping with them. He deserves to be remembered for his courage and as a family man who loved his community.

Thanks everyone.
My brother Nick has asked me to put up his own tribute to Keith below, whom he has known as a dear friend since the early 1960s, when Keith, his brother Edwin, our cousin Robert and my eldest brother Chris were all growing up as young friends in Elms Vale:
"If life was fair then the good guys would always be 'looked after' and Keith, as one of my dearest friends, was quite simply the nicest, calmest and loveliest person you could ever wish to share life's experiences with. We've been friends ever since he and his brother and me with mine, first kicked a football together as young boys at Elms Vale recreation ground in the early '60s, which I'm immensely proud and privileged to say established a lifelong friendship. I will always treasure those moments and the great times we had together in our early years, through the school years and later in our working lives together - memories that can never be taken away. Wonderful times, great laughs and a friendship I shall cherish for ever. God bless you Keith and rest in peace my old mate."
Nick Stevens.
RIP Keith, God bless from all the Stevens family x

i never knew the deceased, but he has clearly left his mark on people, judging by comments here.
it does sound like he was taken in his prime.

Thanks Andrew.
Nick sent that to me and I did think about posting it, but felt it was too personal; glad he asked you to post it.

Yes thats a very moving tribute. Nick of course is a PR guru himself as was Keith so they had a lot in common even in their work lives. I didnt realise they went so far back. Ah yes a sad loss.

I have read my post again and i feel it was a little abrupt .many people chose St Marys especially if the person who has died is well known .I have known Keith ,Bettina ,Adam and Alex for many years .Im feeling very sad as the circumstances are very like my own .The same illness and the port connection. Its lovely to read all the tributes to Keith .
