11:1466468There are rumours that Charles Kennedy is so disillusioned with the Lib/Dem ConDom coalition that he is prepared to jump ship and join the Labour party. The Lib/Dems have denied it and Kennedy is unavailable for comment.

I think therefore I am (not a Tory supporter)

11:3666478i think he will shift, he always wanted a coalition with the reds and makes it quite clear that he has no truck with the condem spending cuts programme.
i don't think he will ever be a big player in politics again, however it will probably mean that even more paid up yellows will defect to the reds.

13:5766496Barry it is not looking good for the lib/dem at this time more and more of them moving over to the reds, funds are at a all time low all this just to have a D/PM who must be told what to say by a blue.

18:4766547cannot see an election coming any time soon vic, no benefit to any party, not forgetting the apathetic turnout from a bored electorate.

08:0366616You speak as if it has happened Keith, that is far from sure.
I am sure Labour will get some defections though from the loonier fringe of the LDs (there are plenty of them).
I recon though that there are enough saner heads amongst the LDs to keep the coalition on-track until the hard work is done and things start to pick up again.

08:5266622Just seen this on the BBC...
""""Former Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy says the idea of him joining the Labour Party is "absolute rubbish".
He told the Sunday Mail he would "go out of this world feet first with my Lib Dem membership card in my pocket"."""""""""

09:3266634It appears cleggy baby talked him out of it (for now)
kennedy isc clearly unhappy as have been many ld's who have already joined labour, fed up with the co olition.
Hughes another clearly not happy at letting clegg just do what he wants without consulting.
wants to see it go before ld party first
think hes another high flyer who will damage co olition

11:4166646i think the reds are not bothered either way which of if yellow honourable members switched allegiance.
they will be perfectly happy receiving subscriptions from their former members.
would be no use either if charlie turned red, his constituency would never elect him on that ticket.

13:0466657More wishful thinking from the defeated, I wonder what they will dream up next.

13:3966662nic try again sid, why do you think "the defeated" would benefit from the defection of mr kennedy?

even blue barry agrees with me that the reds do not want the coalition to fall apart.
the yellows even more so.
p.s.
the forum has many more right wing than left wind posters sid, as you well know.

you must be the only red that wants another election as this time.
once the new milliband is ensconced he will need a lot of time to settle in, sort out his front bench team then formulate policy.
after all of that he will have to communicate with the electorate and build a rapport, this will take at least a couple of years.
