the blues would do well to remember that the label of being the "nasty party" will come back to haunt them if the rest of their campaign is negative.
andy is right, much better to promote ones own policies.
One of the first rules of selling: Do not criticise your competitors, get your own message across.
The traditional Tory voters are not hearing from the party what they want to hear about policy. It's okay marching the party to the centre ground, but if you don't take your supporters with you, then victory will be very difficult to acheive.
This country has had 13 years of lies and spin and spending well beyond our means, yet still the Conservative Party is unable to come up with a campaign message stronger than, well, what is it? I don't know. Oh yes, it the big issue, erm no, the big country, erm no, well, something big anyway.
In my opinion the Tories really need to get a forceful, positive message out there, else they will lose this election.
Latest from the Beeb:
"Government borrowing hit a record high of £163.4bn this year, official figures have shown."
The Labour spin has already started. Aparently this is lower than AD expected, so that's good news then!!!! I am truly grateful for this Government saddling my grandchildren with a debt they had no say in making.

Nick Clegg just interviewed on Sky News, I think he is feeling the pressure he said " I must be the only politician who has gone from being Churchill to a Nazi in less than a week"

Stephen, I got some leaflets from the Liberals the last few days. No mention of mass immigration, no mention of almost all private sector jobs in Britain being up for grabs by any e.u. citizen in the name of "equal opportuniteis", and no mention of me turning up to listen in! Have much better to do, Stephen, enough problems of my own to sort out without having to sort out their problems.

sid
the campaign slogan was simply "change", hardly inspiring.
change could mean anything, or even another party such as the yellows or ukip.

Just a deficit of £163.4 bn, then? Uncork the champagne! Sid's post is spot on, this Government has lost all sense of perspective. I have little time for the way political opponents are being sniped at, especially by the Tories, but let's face it - Labour's handling of the economy has been awful. Yes, global forces have been at work here, but can we really be grateful that we're just £6m under the PSBR prediction of £164 bn?
What price common sense in Whitehall or Westminster?

barryw,im certanly not simple or bigoted and i dont think that the rest of the country is either.the nasty party as someone above said just about sums the tory party to a t.
Living in the past Brian, you need to update yourself mate. If you think the last 13 years have been any better than the Major years your deluding yourself.

Sid you're right. Actually the labour years got worse and worse as they went by!
Surely it must stop! Our Country is bankrupt too! In reality, Labour should be sent to a court to be declared bankrupt by a judge, and home-evicted.
If any common citizen had made debts like Labour, they would also be treated that way! They certainly wouldn't be posing for a General Election!

I was talking to a very nice lady this morning we were both going round with our leaflets, she was at the meeting on Tuesday night, I asked her to vote for me because she was so very nice.

So will it be the Party with the most "nice" voters Vic.
All the other Parties are grabbing who ever they can.
